Christmas Packaging Design

One Christmas LT Gruppe decided that they want to do something more for the gifts they usually give their employees. As a company with over 20 years of experience in the construction industry, and several different branches, LT Gruppen was a powerful brand with a well-established visual identity. They wished to have part of that identity reflected in the Christmas gifts as well. As such they requested a custom design for the chocolate boxes they usually hand out for holidays. The client provided a comprehensive visual guide (design manual) of their brand and the preferred template of the box.

It was fun taking on the challenge to create something related to holydays and yet that could be easy to associate with a certain brand identity. Most of LT Gruppen’s color palette was shades and tints of green, and in them I saw the opportunity to use the Christmas tree as a center piece in the design.

In my process I strived for both elegance and simplicity. I drew in Illustrator some simple and playful Christmas trees. I made use of transparencies as well to merge seamlessly between the different forms. I also used the template shape to my advantage, whenever it was possible. To keep things stimulating for the eye, I drew some white globes that would contrast with the suave shapes and transparencies.

The client was very pleased with the design and felt it was going in the right direction. There were some minimal changes, but nothing that changed drastically the original design.

Christmas Packaging Design

For Christmas, LT Gruppen wanted to elevate their employee gifts by reflecting their strong brand identity in custom-designed chocolate boxes. Using their green color palette, I created a simple, elegant design featuring playful Christmas trees and contrasting white globes, integrating the box template for visual flow. The client loved the design, and only minor adjustments were made.

Food Truck Design (Tacos Locos)

Tacos Locos, a Mexican restaurant in Køge, expanded with a larger space and a food truck. I designed the truck using a bold golden-pink sunburst to match their brand and connect with the restaurant vibe. Featuring taco images and their slogan, "Autentiske mexikanske specialiteter," emphasized their commitment to quality. This project showcased the flexibility of design in new settings.

Video Animations (After Effects)

A collection of animations created in After Effects for digital screens, web ads, and branded presentations. Projects include dynamic promos and sponsor videos for stadiums - for which I used repeatable animations to keep logos and messages memorable.

Digital Illustration: Seasons of Daniela Krolupperová’s Stories

This illustration, created for the hero section of Czech author Daniela Krolupperová’s WordPress website, brings together characters from her beloved books in a fantasy scene where the seasons blend. Using a playful, childlike style and strong colors, the artwork captures the spirit of her storytelling and unifies her characters in a shared world.

Raising Awareness on the Dangers of Alcohol Marketing to Youth

Zoom In Media Romania aimed to highlight the risks of promoting alcohol to young people by organizing presentations in high schools nationwide. To reinforce the message, I collaborated with their head of marketing to design and produce themed T-shirts for distribution.

This project was done during my E-Concept development program at KEA University. Our client, Eva Solo, asked us to create a SoMe strategy and templates that would promote their product, the versatile Gravity Pot.

Food Truck Design(Tacos Locos)

Tacos Locos is a Mexican food restaurant that opened a few years back, in Køge. Their food concept, based on the traditional Latin-American food, was a hit among the locals. This offered them the chance to grow their business by moving to a bigger restaurant building, minutes away from the city center.

They have also decided to expand their service by acquiring a food truck, so that locals can enjoy their exotic meals on the go. They asked for a vibrant and colorful design, which would reflect their brand personality, quality food promise, and that would be an eye-catcher in busy streets.

This was my first assignment on food truck design, and I was immediately drawn by it, as it had two of my favorite things: food and fun combinations of colors. Tacos Locos requested previously other design projects as well, so I had their brand assets already, plus the experience with their overall style.

I started by playing with their logo, and I have decided to integrate it into a sunburst background, with golden and pink colors. The same colors are to be found on their menus in the restaurant, my intention was to highlight the link between the truck and the restaurant, thus, to suggest indirectly that the food quality is the same regardless of its location. The sun burst is inspired from the Latin-American weather, which is sunny and invites a lot of positive energy,

and at the same time it is an indirect message that enjoying some tacos from the food truck will brighten one’s day. I added some visually appealing pictures of tacos as well, to highlight the promise of good food. To make it more memorable, I used their slogan “Autentiske mexikanske specialiteter” (Authentic Mexican specialties).

Video Animations(After Effects)

These are some of the videos which I have created in After Effects, for diverse clients. The videos which I created were used in advertising for digital screens or as ads on websites. Sometimes I had more special assignments, such as creating sponsor videos to have them displayed in Rungsted stadium.

Animations For SoMe Content

Video creation is a versatile medium, which is perfect for SoMe, especially since in this era of continuous scrolling, a simple, good-looking picture might not engage as much as something that moves. I have created a series of videos for SoMe as well, mainly holyday greetings or hiring posts as in both cases, they had to attract the attention of users as much as possible.

Video Animatios for Screens

For Tacos Locos I created videos for their outer screen, mounted on the façade. It is a short animation highlighting their “All you can Eat” offer. The video attracts with the fast and playful animation as well as the vivid colors.

Stadium Ads

I mentioned before my videos done for Rungsted Stadium. I hold these videos dearly as I have learned the most when creating them. My first encounter with the assignment started with some detective work, as the client did not have the screen resolution for their specific stadium screens. I did some googling, used a resolution calculator online and asked some people that were versed in technical details regarding screens. In this way I could figure out the right resolution, which passed the test once the videos were done.

In the case of sponsor videos, less is more. I focused on animations that would pop or text that would run across the screens repeatedly as the idea here is to repeat the logos and texts indefinitely so that the spectators remember various sponsors. It is a more persuasive form of advertising.

Digital Illustration: Seasons of Daniela Krolupperová’s Stories

I created this illustration for Czech author Daniela Krolupperová, featuring characters from her most beloved books gathered in a whimsical, fantasy-like scene where the seasons flow seamlessly together. For this project, I chose a playful style with bold colors to evoke the charm and simplicity of children’s drawings.

While this is not among my most recent projects, I still find it to have a place of honor in my portfolio, since it was my very first illustration project, which I managed to pull out successfully, and which made me realise my potential in this direction.

Raising awareness about promoting alcohol to young people

A T-shirt design created for Zoom In Media as a part of their campaign to raise awareness about the consequences of alcohol consumption among teenagers. This campagin was done in Romanian highschools and I decided, along with their marketing expert to use a well known hystorical figure in romanian culture, Michael the brave. We made a humorous scenario where Michael was drunk thus unable to battle and defend his land. The underlying message was that alcohol doesn’t make you cool, just more vulnerable.

Cinemagraphs are images that have certain parts animated. They
share the same concept with GIFs and are a fast and efficient way
to attract attention on SoMe or a website page. These interactive
images were done during a project where I was planning
some content to promote the new Gravity Pot from Eva Solo.

Probably the first question that pops in your mind, while looking at this page, is “Why is it necessary to have custom icon designs? Aren’t there millions of assets available online? Well yes, there are in fact a lot of icon packs, most of them nicely made too. But here’s the deal, not all companies can use those premade packs for everything. If your goal is to use icons to enhance the readability of a contact page or a guideline, where you use conventional signs, then yes, downloading a pack will be a good solution.

Can a pre-made icon accurately explain a business idea?

If you have to describe your company services or perhaps, your innovative solution to a board of potential stakeholders, you may find yourself in the situation where you can’t find suitable icons.

What I noticed in these cases was that clients used icons from different packages. Those icons gave an approximate idea about their concept and, coming from different sources, were drawn in various styles. Why is this not a good idea? Because you are using some standard graphics, they may not convey the message entirely. Besides that, it does not do any justice to your branding as the styles you found are not in line with your general brand. In short, you lose a part of your message and brand personality.

Here I have two examples of icon packs that I have created. One was for a start-up that specialized in monitoring the fermentation levels in beer tanks, and another was a signage & print company. The icons refer in most cases to very specific services or features. By integrating them in a personalized pack, with the company style, it was possible to give these companies some assets that they can re-use continuosly. A personalized icon pack is a very powerful tool and the ways of using it are endless. From a website interface to a powerpoint presentation or marketing materials (both digital and printed). In this case only imagination sets limits.

Selecta Project: Business Card & Marketing Brochure

Selecta Coffee

Under the slogan “JOY TO GO” Selecta is on a mission to offer coffee, water and meals solutions that do more than just nourish. They promise a sense of happiness, obtained via good quality food and beverages. And this happiness can be accessed on the go. Essentially, they are communicating that beverages/food taken on the go needn’t be dull or lacking good ingredients.

Business Card Design

Their first request was to have a business card design that fits their joyful and fun brand personality. The client could not provide any assets besides some general style guidelines. I have recreated the necessary assets after studying their brand guides and website.

The business cards embody the same joy for life and promise of good quality delivered on the go.

Product Brochure

The second request was for a brochure that would be given together with the business card. It was all part of a strategy to entice potential and usual business clients, with the coffee and water machines they were offering, while also prompting them to get in touch – via the business card attached.

The brochure was warmly titled “Invitation to coffee tasting” and aimed to give a taste of Selecta’s brand philosophy focused on joy, quality of products, the relevant brands they are partners with and their promise to keep it all sustainable.

Brand Refresh: Pangea Park

Brand Refresh: Pangea Park

With the slogan “Denmark’s coziest wildlife park” (“Danmarks hyggeligste dyrepark”), Pangea Park promises a more intimate experience that reconnects people with nature, with themselves, as well as the ones around them.

Pangea Parks main goal is to offer a closer experience with its animals, compared to a regular ZOO. In this small park located on Sjælland, families could get together by having fun in nature, looking at the various animals and attending the live shows – where they were shown various animal species, get interesting facts from supervisors and interact safely with the animals presented.

What did Pangea Park need to communicate their message more effectively?

Plainly put, a new face. The existing design was reminiscent of the 90’s Discovery Channel like style, with motifs such as the well-known earth globe icon, font made in the shape of three branches – essentially all the elements that show the raw beauty of our world.

The design had a more nostalgic tone to it, which could have worked, if that was the need it was addressing. Yet here the need was to cater to families, comprised of various members of different age groups. And the benefit of visiting Pangea was that all these different family members can find joy and form a closer connection, with the help of common activities in nature.

There is no such thing as “bad” or “good design”, actually. Form follows content, in this case the message was just not represented with the right visual style, that would appeal to the desired audience.

***Aside from the mockups and designs, the pictures of the park and animals are Pangea Parks property. The client had a good collection of professional photographs, which he sent over at the beginning of the project. Some pictures were saved from their Facebook page as well***

There are more ways than one to do a rebrand

In this case it made sense to go for a brand refresh, as the elements were there, the message was solid, and they already had recognition from their target group. The only thing missing was a red thread in the design. The first steps were to look at other parks from all over Denmark, to identify relevant trends and get some inspiration on how they use design to craft their message. It was notable that the general tendency, in all parks I looked at, was for a simplified design, with solid colors, yet playful.

The same good concept – with a more modern look

For the first I have simplified the logo by reducing it to its main shapes, all extra colors and effects had been removed. This way one solid color can be applied and then it can be integrated in various designs and places.

The original color scheme and fonts were reorganized as well, the green that they had been using originally was paired with a vibrant ochre and a few earth colors to balance them out in layouts. The previous font, “Chelsea market”, was kept for headlines and short texts. The font has this organic vibe to it and the slightly gritty/unpolished appearance gives the feeling of something hand made. This font was paired with “Mulish”, a google font that is simpler and that is perfect for big text paragraphs as it’s easy and fast to read. The existing icons that presented animal silhouettes and footprints have been kept as they could be re-adapted in the new design; the question was only in which way.

Time to play

Now that the basic design elements have been created, it was time to test various combinations of fonts and colors through practical brainstorming. I played around with a brochure that presents what Pangea Park is about and that also offers an overview of the park.

After the base was created, the brand refresh concept has been sent along with the final brochure draft. The idea was received with a lot of enthusiasm, and I have been encouraged to work further with it. As such a brand manual emerged, as well as new designs for their existent signs in the park (including the signs which explained what each animal was) and more materials for offline/online marketing.

Website (re)design

The biggest project in this case, aside for the rebranding, was the updating of their existing website, so that it fits with the new identity. The website mockups created in Adobe XD can be explored here.

How can the success of this project be measured?

Here it is important to reflect on what purpose this design project had. For this case, the role of the design was to offer an identity in which the customer feels represented and that offers them confidence in the way they advertise their service offering.

This brand refresh had the benefit of showing the client possible new ways of promoting themselves. They started asking for more materials to be created such as posters, exhibition stands and even requested a redesign on their membership cards.

Sometimes you want to reinforce your message in the realm of offline marketing as well. Maybe a big banner is not a solution you’d lean towards, but how about some flyers that are big enough to convey who you are and your offering?

SK Energi - Promo Flyer

SK Energi focuses on electric cars. This flyer was designed to both make potential customers aware of their existence and to incentivize them to make contact by promising that they will automatically enter a contest, once they send an SMS to their number.

I MAMAS KØKKEN: Restaurant flyer

I MAMAS KØKKEN was a small canteen that opened across a school in Køge. They wished a minimalistic flyer that focuses on highlighting their special hand-made snacks and meals. In this case the flyer also serves the role of a menu, by showcasing all the food offers of this small canteen.

Din Glasmænd - Promo Flyer

Din Glasmand shapes glass for any ocassion or room. This flyer had the goal to raise awareness about their existence as well as their versatility with glass.

Glass at first might seem like a rigid and straight place like shape. But in the right hands it can shine! If the technique is impeccable, one can cut glass to form various shapes and patterns. I suggested this idea as well by getting inspired from the wavy shapes in which one can cut glass. I took colors from the client’s logo as a finishing touch. It is obvious, even without reading the flyer, what sort of business it promotes.
